Great excitement in Matera for the next Christmas time, all the events and all projected into the New Year 2019, the year in which the city of stones will serve as European Capital of Culture.

The town of Matera introduced the event “Matera the city of Christmas 2018". The day of Santa Cecilia will mark the official start of the Christmas season with a series of initiatives to bring the city of Sassi this magical atmosphere.

From Thursday 22 November see you on Sunday 25 November Matera will be decked out to celebrate Christmas. The castle park host the Santa's house manned by guards-Elves, for children, while the streets of Old Town will host the Christmas markets with more than 100 exhibitors of Christmas products. Everything will be accompanied by the spectacle of artificial snow and street band that will animate with their sound the most beautiful sights of the center. There are also several places where you can taste the festive dishes such as wine, chestnuts, sweets, etc. Finally an ice rink will be set up to entertain the greatest to children.

The event is scheduled from 22 to the 25 November from noon to midnight in the center of the city of Sassi.
