This Christmas the Sassi of Matera will be the backdrop to the live nativity scene Matera.

The title of this sixth edition is "The Family” and it will be divided into several sessions according to the following schedule:

In the session of the Immaculate (from 4 all’8 December 2015), The route will take place both in the crib Sasso Barisano, where it will set the scenic route with Gruppo Storico Romano, in that Caveoso where they will be acclimatized the scenes of the Annunciation, the Nativity and the Massacre of the Innocents.

As is the case for several years, the event will take place in the ancient district of Sassi of Matera, that recalls the natural shape of the rocks of the original territory Nativity, for the uniqueness of the landscape, for the perfect balance between human settlement and the ecosystem and for the continuity of life from prehistory to today.

The Nativity of the Visit-ACTOR

The biggest news this year is the opportunity for anyone, from children to adult, or entire families to be part and parcel Route crib. In dates 13, 19 and 20 December 2015, 1 and 2 January 2016, those who wish, will have the possibility, alongside the listed, to become “visit-ACTOR” namely, to wear the clothes of the actors, and then to be part starring Nativity: a soldier, a shepherd, a commoner, a blacksmith, a priest of the temple. This innovation entitled precisely "the Nativity of the visit-Actor” It gives you the opportunity not only to look at the Nativity, But say live as protagonist.

The Crib to everyone

The day of the 3 January 2016 It will be devoted to the visit of the Nativity by disabled. With the help of many volunteer organizations, in tale data, the Nativity will ensure full accessibility to visitors with disabilities and their carers, through the realization of paths "ad hoc” with walkways and ramps suitable for the removal of architectural barriers. In addition it will ensure carers to enjoy and be part, free of charge, scenario crib.
